PHOTO - JD tractor the US didnt get

Hi Gang; This is the JD 710 built in Manheim Germany (the others in the series were 310 & 510) the first JD tractors built in Europe in the old Lanz factory. They utilized JD engines mater to Lanz rear axles & gearboxes, and were NOT successfull nor reliable tractors. This 710 was approx 70HP gross, 4 cyl diesel with 10F & 3R gears. Aimed at the Ford 5000-MF175 market (who were the market leaders here in that power class). Not many imported in England, and very few have survived into preservation. Parts are almost impossible to locate. Cheers David

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
