take the generator off and have it checked and see what it is putting out,if everything is stock it should be a 6 volt system however, you put a 12 volt battery on it and still use the 6V generator, it just won't charge as good. What we do is if it is going to be restored and we're not sure what system it is just decide which you want to use and rewire it. There is a man here who works on genereators and stuff and is reasonable. he can rebuild or rewire one as in make a 6V into a 12V and stuff. Also if you rewire it now it will save you headaches later on when your at a show and have to find a short or something.
