I just read your original post and see someone already made the same suggestion as myself, sorry to repeat. I thought of a question though, you said you watched the relay melt, is the heater shorted out? I was just wondering why the relay would melt and also where is the relay located? Is the the relay located in a Dodge fuse/relay panel or on the engine. Is the relay similar to the other relays around it, and could you switch it with something less important for purposes of testing? Just thinking out loud here.

I know your busy with the sick kiddo, hope she gets better.
