Howdy folks, As I'm working up a plan for the farm and it's possible future routes I am tossing around some ideas in my head. One that has got me pondering is using the corn fodder for something other than simply disking back into the soil. I know people who shred and then round bale the fodder but most of them have cattle of their own to feed it to. Others simply graze their cattle in the field after harvest. My question is this: Is there any market for small square bales of corn fodder? If so, where? Also, how much are people charging per bale or per ton for this if it is in fact being marketed anywhere? Of course, the nutrient benefits that such an action would remove may overshadow the benefits of selling this material but that is something that would have to be calculated on my part. But like I said, it's just an idea at this point. I look forward to your thoughts. God bless. --old fashioned farmer
