I'm really not qualified to comment because I've never owned one, but check the shifting and make sure it is okay and doesn't "hang up".

The 986 is really just a 966 in newer clothing. Better, quieter cab, tranny/rear end dipstick, A/C condenser out front, steel steering lines and the 436 engine instead of the old 414.

Neighbor has two of 'em and he runs the wheels off the guys. They sure seem to work okay for him.
