Congrats, I can't deny liking the retro look of these new mustangs, and the SVT team at Ford/SVT program in whole. They really kept an american muscle car alive, that you can afford if you really want one, and that also has a nice look to it. I was never a real big fan of the old ones, well the standard models at least, but those old GT 500/Cobra models and all the other ones with the added HP were pretty cool in my book. Like that green fastback Steve McQueen drove in that movie.

The GT seemed a bit lame for a long while, but then they brought out the Cobra in '93, then the Cobra R in 95, and every few years after, and now that GT-500, and Mr. Shelby himself was somehow back in the picture right ?, been awhile, I read about it when they first came out. That red GT-500 was really interesting.

I bought a '96 cobra rag top new, was not even on the lot yet and you could not test drive them, and it's got the 4.6 with 4 valve per type heads, boy that 280 cu. in. at a factory 305 hp has enough punch to have some fun, and is plenty enough for me, but I'd take that GT 500 without hesitation. The mach 460 sound system is pretty good for factory, needs an equalizer, but not bad for the average schmo. The '99 model came out and I did not like them as much,body lines did not do it for me, but this latest round of them really seemed to hit the spot on looks. Still a rear wheel drive car that is a lot of fun to keep stock or build, and drive, mine will just roast the tires, does not hook up well if you're heavy on the pedal, darn quick on the highway too, not too mention it sounds nice and gets 26 mpg when you are light on the pedal. Was the first new car I ever bought, never did figure what got into me, was the coolest thing to drive off the lot, something to have at least done once in life I suppose.
