I should've had the presence of mind to've rechecked the thread before posting, but didn't. Feel free to critique anything I said or to clarify any points I left ambiguous; two minds are usually better than one. I note that we both felt it adviseable to add a certain cautionary note to our comments.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
