Make it clear with the shelter thats its not your dog and you are trying to find the owner and may want to bring him in at a later date. If you take your own dog to the shelter they may charge for it. They do here. Then take a little time to try to find the owner and if then you don't want to keep him you can take him to the shelter if no owner is found. The shelter will maybe help in finding the owner also while the dog is at your place. Just my thoughts. Gary
