As you have told in previous posts, the only way you will know what you have is to take off the head, and have it worked. While off inspect cylinders, liners, etc. You may end up with much more than the $700 to $1000 you are quoting. It might not be a gasket, could be a crack. Also depends if you can do the work yourself or hire everything done. If you are planning on hiring everything done, then I would pass on this tractor. You also have no idea what it dyno'd out at, since the machine was not working (maybe by dealer design). Did they do a compression test for you? Do you have any way of getting the history of the tractor? Also, there are some real JD experts that only hang out on the JD board. That is where you should be posting. Tom
