sounds like the transfer case if it is locking up the frontend when off the ground the lights work off a switch on the top of the transfer case pull the drain plug on the transfer case and look at what comes out refill with dextron three transmission fluid the drain plug is a 30mm socket or a 10mm allen; with the front of the truck off the ground take the front of the drive shaft loose with a 3/8 socket and engauge the four wheel drive and try to turn the frontend if it turns the wheel with no problems hook the shaft back up and jack up the rear wirh all four wheels off the ground and the four wheel drive engauged try to turn the shafts by hand
