Bill Pfeifer is correct, it was the 1939 model. My uncle bought one and drove it during the War years. Henry Ford described it as "the car we would build if it wern't for the competition". It was mean't to take on the Pontiac, Buick, Olds segment of the market but sales were disappointing initially. It was basically a beefed up, trimmed up, powered up Ford. It used the same basic flathead V8 as Ford but had a few more HP.
