I guess I'm the luckiest here. I was unhooking one from the charger when I was about 14 or 15. My face was about 12 to 18 inches above the top of the battery when it exploded. I didn't have glasses or anything and had my eyes open when it went. I lost sight for a couple of minutes but was able to find my way from the shop halfway to the house when my sight was just starting to return. Daddy met me and we went to the kitchen and started washing my eyes out. I didn't have any lasting effects but kept a couple of indentions in my face for a couple of days where the battery caps hit. slim
