OT - Electric wiring question in barn

Sorry for not being about tractors, but at least it is about something in a barn, and the barn is old enought to qualify. Built after the great tornado outbreak of '74. Anyway, I want to install a switched electrical outlet. I have the switch and an outlet. I am going to be using standard old romex as found in the barn. Would somebody be so kind to tell me the black and white connections for the line in to the switch and the line out from the switch to the outlet. Also, does the line in and out both get connected to the ground? Thank-you so much for any help.
