Pretty sure the clutch pedal broke at the weld,eather where the splines are welded to the cross shaft(where the cable is fastered to the pedal above the gas pedal)or where pedal itself is welded to the cross shaft.My wife had 97 geo Tracker, I put five clutch pedals in it,three from a salvage yard and two from the factory.Finally took one to a welder and had it done right.They are jig welded, the first factory job lasted 70 miles. Can check it by laying on your back on the floor, shine a light up under the dashsnd work the pedal by hand to see what's wrong. You'll likly find the pedal is'nt pulling the cable out as far as it should.
