If you have an excessive amount of slippage, even when the computer is calling for lock-up, your trans guy might well be right. Solenoids usually fault or are OK. If lockup was stuck off even when commanded on, then you could chase a solenoid. If the pressure control solenoid was getting weak, you would more than likely have a P1811 code with it. Since you haven`t mentioned any of that, and I haven`t actually driven the car, I would lean toward what the trans guy says. I know guys have mentioned that replacing the converter and rebuilding the trans are two seperate issues, I have to kinda disagree. All your lockup apply oil and converter charge oil come from the trans. So you could very well replace the TCC solenoid, pull the trans and replace the converter, go down the road and have the same problem. Then you`re back to square one with alot of money down the drain. Also the 4T65E has a real crappy 4th cl hub(splines shear off and you lose 4th). If your gonna have the tranny done, make sure and ask if they replace that hub with a new aftermarket with hardened splines, and if they run a transgo shift kit. If they answer yes, then there is a good chance these guys have been around the block with this trans. If you decide to have it done, don`t be afraid to ask too many questions. Also ask if when their done, they`ll show you the parts they replaced and explain why they were replaced. That is one of my favorite things to do, it builds trust and when you take the time to explain the failure, and what you`ve done to fix the problem it takes the mystery out of the bill. Hope this helps Brokenwrench

Minus two kids, we traveled light with only the youngest in tow. As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
