I believe that Dan is right, I checked mine with an ohm meter to see. The points were evidently closed during the test mentioned here. As I checked mine I did the test both ways points opened and closed.
The voltage came up with the points closed, but the points had to stay closed for several seconds for the amperage to make a small move up. Either way the points will not get too much electricity being installed like Dan said.
I also went back to check, and both of you knowledge power people did miss the boat. The correct answer should have been, that he has no problem to solve. Just jump up there and fire that mother up, and wish him luck to enjoy his tractor since he has it fixed.
