I use a rotary mower (3-point type) for hay and I will tell you that they can be a BEAR to install and yes, they are heavy and can be hard on the 3 point of the tractor. I eventually got a tractor that I install it on for all spring cutting and then again in the fall. I use a different machine for making bales and moving them, yet another for raking. It would be real tough to install it to cut, take it off to bale, then install it to cut the next area, take it off to bale etc... That said, I think it does a great job and now that I have a tractor to just leave it on I am really happy with it. It is really handy to cut up and down slopes (such as pond edges - down slopes or road sides - up slopes) because you can control its level (and they go down past level) from your seat. Many people might tell you differently, but personally I wouldn"t use the pull type mower unless it was a mower-conditioner. Just my experience.....

Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
