I think many of those who use "yourself" in that context know its a grammatical error (I do, anyhow), but I have used that phrase to let the listener know that I'm not necessarily "prim and proper", and won't insist that they be. Its kind of an icebreaker, as folks are often put off by someone who insists on perfect grammar (or grammer, if you prefer) in all contexts. If it bugs you, I suggest you simply recognize that the person may have a sense of humor, and avoid him at all costs. And stay away from any Mark Twain writings.
