Don, I didn't realize the 8 speeds went back that far.Try putting the PTO into gear.If it grinds going in or won't stop with the clutch fully depressed it has clutch trouble.Find out what it would cost to fix before going any further.I never saw a 65 with transmission driven (not live)PTO,but it is possible. I wouldn't get too excited about a gasser.You may find yourself wondering how so much fuel could pass through that little pipe.Unless you are mainly planning to use it for snow removal,then the gas engine might be a good choice.
