Yes the 265 loader will fit your 2940 and 265 loader has the extra clearance for MFWD models also. JD tractor and loader compatibility charts showed the 265 loader was recommended for tractors from a 2840 up to a 4440 with HFWD or 4450 2WD. There wasn't a 260 loader then and the 245 loader was only recommended for up to a 2640 model. You can find out about mounting brackets in the JD online parts catalog by entering 265 and find all options there for loader brackets. A 148 loader also with right brackets on a 2940 2WD but doesn't have the extra height and length of the 265 loader for used with MFWD 2940 and larger tractors.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
