Someone lied to you when they said the tractor would lift a 2500# bale. heck.. that's near the tractor weight. The pumps psi limit is about 1500-1700 psi, and 2.85 gpm. It lifts about 700-800# on the 3pt befor ethe nose comes up. With front ballast, you can sometimes get near 1000 on the lift if everything is perfect. I've heard of people shimming the relief and running it to the limit and getting 1200-1500 pounds of lift while really abusing the axles and ebarings and pump.. Don't expent it to have any kind of lifetime of doint that. Best to get a doodlebug hay trailer an PULL a bale behind it. I have a ford 660 and 850 with a fel, and can lift 800-1200# bales on a loader.. but it is all it wants. i imagine you need to have a ford 5000 to lift a 2500# bale on the 3pt lift. My 5000 lifts a 2500# mower just fine ont he 3pt lift. I also have about 420# of weights up front as well. Soundguy
