Talk about worst stuck competitions, one time I was digging a pond for a friend with my 977 Cat. Now, this is 25 tons of track machine. Hit an underground spring and before I knew it I was up to the top of the tracks in mud. Now, these things don't float too good. Finally got it out by hiring a tow truck with a stinger and a 65 ton winch, and passed the cable through a real stout pulley on my machine, and then back to the truck. He winched while I put the machine in gear and idled the tracks and together we pulled her out. Sweat bullets on that one.
But, the point of the story is, a pulley will increase the power of your winch or come along by a big factor.
