I think the local DA is all wet. It's only unauthorized if the legal owner says it is- the thief has no say in the matter. You can put tracking equipment on your goods to keep track of them if you want. DA is either very lazy, or very stupid, or it could be a double play! Good to hear that you got it back. And from the sound of things, you probably want to keep the details a little fuzzy. If idiot DA makes inquiry, just don't answer any questions- You have no idea what happened. If he wants to pursue it, he has to prove his case, and you're not required to help him.
