If I may let me add a partial take on this tractor. We"ve got more tractors on this farm than I can count anymore, every one of the necessary including one totally standing by as a spare. Three of the these tractors I class as over powered: A WD45 Allis Chalmers with a power pack, I drive with lazily placed foot riding hig in the clutch; We’ve also a 1850 Oliver its behavior much like the WD45; the last power package is an 2150 Oliver what has no idea of its power/strength capable of junking any implement drawn on its tow bar. The way I see it a first time underpowered tractor for a novice isn’t such a bad idea. Further, my unknowing this MF in question is likely Perkins powered, not a bad engine to buy parts fro, Perkins now under the Cat umbrella. If its as clean a machine as suggested low on hours a premium price may not be out of the question. Yet, at that possibly inflated price I’d take a knowledgeable tractor man with me for a comprehensive appraisal. Make a list of checks to follow before tractor’s start and same list of checks following a good warm up (Test Drive). Checks should note cold fluid levels: engine, radiator, transition, final drive. Warmed up all these fluid levels again, plus note if any milky fluid appearance, different smells of normal application fluids. Fluid color and odors indicator transference of oils thru internal machinery leaks indicating internal troubles. Engine rebuild, Hydraulic rebuild discounts should reflect project repair cost discounts. An a higher than usual market price may well warrant a written guarantee or warrantee. The only Tractor bought in recent years without my inspection cost the farm near double to make it mechanically correct. It’s a toughie now, that’ll last beyond my remaining lifetime. Good Luck Fernan

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
