Don't know much about the plate planters of yesteryear, but as far as modern vacuum planters go, White is hands down best in terms of accuracy, versatility, simplicity of use, time to change between crops, number of configurations, and cost. Deere comes in a somewhat close second in most of these regards, more accurate than a CaseIH at least. Kinze is a smaller manufacturer that also does a very good job with planters, again, very close to White in many respects.
