The performance of a backhoe mounted on a three point hitch leaves a lot to be desired. I have a three point backhoe mounted on a 50+ HP tractor and it is suitable for small tasks but totally undesirable for continueous income producing jobs. The lack of stability from being mounted on the three point hitch is the main complaint. The setup permits the three point hitch to move upward w/o the weight of the tractor being transmitted to the hoe. Having to dismount makes it time consuming in moving the tractor. In summary, I like it a lot better that a shovel; but not nearly enough to to pay retail. Buy one at an auction at 30 cents on the dollar and you will be more satisfied. If you do not pay much you will not expect much and you will be happy!
