Old friend is a long since retired Allis dealer who sold Deutz for a few years. He said they had two things going against them. One was that US farmers didn't like having to keep engine air cooling fins and related system clean, resulting in overheating, and that "sickly green color". Most of his old customers were accustomed to flashy orange, of course, but that is a weird shade of green and I'm not color blind.
