Model T and Model A Fords had a driver adjustable mixture and were intended to run on ethanol, maybe methanol, as well as gasoline. It would be very hard to get a high enough compression ratio for diesel ignition with a flat head engine without an unreasonably long stroke or very high intake air pressure from a roots blower.
