I used to never wear a hat when I was living in Calif. When I moved back to MN and also started getting a little thin on top, I started wearing a cowboy hat. It first started as a way for my wife to find me in a crowd at tractor shows or fleamarkets. In MN not very many guys wore cowboy hats 15-20 yrs ago. Then I found how well they shed rain or sun. I found it to prevent that first sunburn on the chrome dome every year. Never had a bad sunburn until the top of the head got fried one year! That really hurts! Now I feel naked without it. It's hard to take it off ever indoors. I stood all day at an auction Sat. in the rain -had water running off all day long. Bought a outback style blaze camo hat 2 years ago to wear during hunting season. Found it to look nice to wear most anywhere- sort of classy looking when in places not associated with hunting. I couldn't believe how many complements I recieved from women I didn't know while shopping in Sears, Wal-Mart and other places. Bet I was approached by at least a dozen women in the first month. One women wanted to know where I bought it so she could get one for her husband for Christmas.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
