A buddy of mine bought a Datsun King Cab of about that year brand new. Over the years he had to change the head gasket a couple of different times because it blew. I am not sure he had the head planed or even checked for a flat surface, and maybe that is why he had to do the job more than once. He liked the truck pretty well and kept it a long time. It got good mileage and was generally dependable. As I remember him telling me, the truck would run fine on the cheapest gas he could find, and he thought that was partly because of the twin spark plugs in each cylinder. But that Datsun rusted worse than any vehicle I have ever seen, especially in the bed area and eventually really looked bad. He quit running it because his son got in an accident with it and really messed it up.
