I have read my policy, it does NOT cover me in any vehicle I drive. If I replace a vehicle (trade) I have to report the trade to them with 2 business days. If I buy a new vehicle without getting rid of an old one I have no insurance until I call and notify them, then I have coverage as long as I am in good standing in my premium. When I rent a vehicle I have the same coverage as I had on my own, but the vehicle has to be in a similar or "lesser" class. I can't own and insure a 2006 Taurus and go rent 2007 Corvette and be 100% covered for collision. They are not going to allow me to insure a $70,000 car with a policy written to cover a $10,000 car. They also specifically exclude coverage on any vehicle that is owned by my employer. As for tags - if all you are going to do is drive it home - "borrow" a tag off a vehicle you already own but make sure you have insurance before you leave. Not being properly tagged could cost you a $100 ticket at the most if you get stopped. Not having insurance could easily be more then double and if you get in an accident it could cost several thousand.
