Just saw this post - don't think anyone else mentioned this point - I think you can bet that when an auction is ended early - the high bidder and the seller have had a "conversation" outside of eBay and they have more than likely "struck a deal" outside of eBay, which is wrong, but it IS happening. I KNOW I had it happen to me.
