Brian, I love my JD 5420. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but it does everything I need it to and always has extra to spare. The best news is I bought it 3 years ago and by looking at the prices on similar used units it is still valued at nearly what I paid for it (-5%). That kind of resale has value, because I am one bad year away from having to sell out. If you want value for your $$ look at Zetor. They will not hold their resale, but they are a lot of tractor for the money. A dealer near me also sells McCormick and Deutz. Both look like decent tractors but no idea on price...

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
