Yep, the scrap yards have recieved alot of materials in the last few years. Well, as they say, you can't save em all. Sounds like a real shame about the big old running dozer, but I can think of a few big dozers in this area that have been parked for many years because something went wrong with them that costs a fortune to fix and the construction companys are looking for newer, nicer, more reliable machines as time is serious money in that game. The local scrap yard here will allow you to buy stuff out of it, but once it hits their yard, they want big $$$ for it, many times what they paid. I think as the years march on, there is going to be alot of good running old tractors without homes as the average collector gets older and older, and they die off, and the younger guys all want new tractors. You can buy a good running and decent looking Farmall H for $1,000 right now in this area at an auction, that can't be too far away from scrap price.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
