Is this a vane pump or retrofitted to piston? I will relate my experience from a few years ago with my '54 NAA. While doing some preventative maintanance, I changed the oils for trans, and hydraulic and rear end. After this my 3 pt hitch qiut working , and I tried the standard trick of pointing the tractor down hill to help it prime and still nothing. By pressurizing the dipstick hole with a little compressed air it would prime, but lose its prime after a couple days of sitting. I figured I was in for a pump rebuild.I had used TSC Universal Hyd fluid which was listed as meeeting the necesary Ford 134 oil spec's. in the hydraulics, and decided to drain the new oil and start over. I bought some Ford 134 Hyd fluid, refilled the hydraulic sump and the pump primed on its own within 1-2 minutes and hasnt bothered at all since. Maybe time for a hyd fluid change for you , and based on my experience I'd invest in a premium hyd fluid. I have also had good luck with NAPA and Valvloline premium UTF's.
