Had a lot of experience in my teens with a JD 25 pull-type. Did a good job, but it had a canvas-type feeder housing. Neighbor had a JD 30 which was nearly the same machine, but with a much-improved auger-type pick up behind the sickle bar. Most of the machines that I've worked on/around were JD or Massey. Both did a good job. We pulled ours with a Farmall M until we got a 300, then used it for the live PTO.
