Best bet for catching him is to start feeding him on the porch. Put some feed in a cage and try to trap him in it. Live traps will work also. It is most likely a racing pigeon but fancy and utility breeds are all banded also and can have colored bands. All of the plastic bands issued now are color coded to year. I am secretary of one of the national clubs. If you get a hold of the bird e-mail me and I will try to get owner info for you. Fairly easy with racing homers but not so reliable with other varieties. Additional info: The National Pigeon Association has issued green plastic bands in all sizes for 2007. Most racing homers will be banded with bands from a racing club, not NPA, the most common is probably American Racing Pigeon Union (AU). The AU issued white bands for 2007 but has issued green in past years. FYI.
