Thanks all , just a few things , cables are clean and free of corrosion , The tractor started OK every time before the winter , I connected a good battery , bypassed the old one , however the same problem came up , starter not engaging , ruling out the armature windings brushes etc ?, low or not enough current draw , and that says battery , but, another battery didn't fix the problem . When I said the old battery was topped up , it was put on slow charge it indicated full or about 95%.
