A bigger skid steer will do circles around a JD 350 for most jobs. A crawler will do more heavy pushing and lift a lot more. 4 in 1 buckets are over rated in my opinion. If your working around branches the hoses get caught fairly regularly. Tracks on a skid steer do help in softer ground but can cause axle problems if driving over trees and stumps and stuff because it puts extra stress on the axles because when driving over something between the tires, the tracks transfer a pull on the axles. A 2 acre pond is pretty big for either machine. A skid steer is way more versatile and cheaper to maintain. Most skid steers are pretty good machines. If you decide to get one make sure you can see the bucket cutting edge when it's flat on the ground and your in the seat. Some machines like older New Holland and JD you sat too low and as a result you couldn't do nearly as fast or as nice a job. I have both and the skid steer is my choice except if I'm in real soft ground or doing heavy pushing. My Cat has a backhoe that I use for digging ponds and drainage trenches. It is faster than digging with either machine. My skid steer is a 1300 lb. rated machine. It sounds like you would want to look at a little bigger size like a 1700 lb. or higher rated like an 1845 or 853 (843) Bobcat or other similar machine. Skid steers do an amazing job but can be very dangerous in the wrong hands and take several hours or weeks to get comfortable on. Hope this helps. Dave

As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
