PHOTO - nice crop of clover

Hi Gang; We've only had two days of light rain since 19th March and not much before then either. The crops sure need some, even this clay soil over slate is drying up. 1st cut silage is going to be several weeks late and low tonnage this year. Theres no height to the grass. This photo shows a heavy covering of White Clover but theres not much Rye Grass. Its only about 6 inches high now. A typical silage & grazing mixture here near the coast would be 26 pounds of mixed Ryegrass (early, mid & late season varietes) + 2 pounds of White Clover. this would give 2 or 3 cuts & some grazing.
