I agree with Glenn & RAB. Also consider the shut-off valve incorporated in the sediment bowl. Even a good working carb can leak-bye the float valve occasionally. You would be wise to have a shut-off valve especially if parking inside. The sediment bowl inlet picks-up 1/2" - 3/4" above the floor of the fuel tank, you're going to want to duplicate that if you remove it. The sediment bowl is designed to trap moisture from condensation or whatever, most gas filters wouldn't. Joe
