O/T, Just a thought

I received an e-mail announcing May 15th as a national gasoline boycott, wheras nobody buys gas that day. This I believe is ment to pressure the oil companies on prices. Does this make sense? Heck that would give them a day to count all the money they make on the 14th of May when everybody fills up. and also a day to prepare for all the gas sales on the 16th to those who didn't fill up on the 14th.
Wouldn't it make more sense to take the whole month of May and plan trips to town to go to several destinations in succession in one trip, stop at the store on the way home from work to get groceries instead of going home and changing and driving back to town, or the heck with the trip to the mall to hang out. Just in general don't drive unless it's nessasary, and plan trips out to maximize efficency and minimize fuel usage.
If all the people who were asked to participate in a one day boycott were to tweek their driving habits just a little for one month. I'm sure we would see some reasonably priced fuel the rest of the summer. Once that many people got used to the money and time they would save, I'm sure the energy industry would be irreversably changed.
Think about it.
