Amen Allen. The Graham Rudman act placed limits on the slope of ground that could be plowed here, or face looseing price supports on tobacco about 20 years ago. What they failed to realize that lots of farms here espeacially in the mountains have a limited amount of ground to work with and some is hilly. We plowed a piece one year, about 4 acres out of 185, that ASCS (FSA) deemed to steep and revoked my price support. They not only revoked support on that farm, but on every crop I had rented. Most of it was on shares with a landlord and the landlords half was supported. When I sold it the buyers wanted to know why I had no support and the auctioneer told them the story and they gave 2 dollars a hundred more for it than my partners supported tobacco brought. It was repealed. Since the buyout there are no longer any support programs to worry with.
