OCB, When the cotton is picked by the cotton picker (not stripper), on smaller operations the cotton is dumped into a cotton trailer for direct transport to the gin. On larger operations, the operations you saw, the cotton is dumped from the cotton picker basket into a module builder. Before the cotton is dumped the module builder, the builder is moved over a special pallet laying on the ground. The module builder compresses the cotton into a free standing module which is usually covered with a tarp. To take the module to the gin, it is winched onto a special roller bed trailer or roller bed truck body for the trip to the gin. This is a symplified explination, but I hope it explanes what you saw. All cotton in the Delta is picked with a cotton picker, not stripped with a cotton stripper. Harold H
