Clarify 'long generator' - Crankshaft output shaft for generators was longer than for garden tractors and tapered. Troybilt origianly used a Kohler engine with that kind of shaft to fit their drive train. When Kohler workers went on strike the Troybilt assemblers went to other engine makers to find a similar crank output shaft so they could continue manufactoring without haveing to change the rest of the drive train- Tecumseh had the same shaft as Kohler available as replacement engine and was willing to provide it to Troybilt. Some manuals cover Troybilt and generator applications same pages for governor, carb settings, mufflers, and the shaft nut tightening specs. At least they did in shop I worked many years back. RN
