35 years ago we got a 3 year old horse in that was supposed to be green broke. When the driver opened the trailer, he caught his halter and tore it off, then bolted away, but didn't jump a fence. I spent the next week trying to get withen 30 feet of 'em with no luck and he was getting closer to going to the butcher shop. I got out an old rope a fella gave me with a saddle I bought and hid by the gate. I got him on the first try, just forgot to tie the rope off! That critter yanked my arms through the top 2 boards on the gate and had most of the skin off my hands before I could say, let go.Spent the night soaking in epsom salts! The next day I hopped on my trusty Oliver 880 and chased that paint devil around the pasture for just over 3 hours....then got off and put a halter on him. Naw, he never went to the killers, in fact we got along pretty good once we had an "understanding"; I just had to put the 38 year old guy down this winter. I believe that was the last day I ever tried to rope anything, and I don't have a clue what that rope was made of.
