I feel like I have unique perspective on this issue. I've used a commercial grade Toro (about $7000) and a $2500 Cub Cadet, and if you can afford the commerical grade I say buy it. It will handle and ride much better than the "bargain" brands. My ground is rough and the cheaper Cub just about shook me to death. The transmission controls (joysticks so to speak) were also much more precise and therefore easier to use on the Toro. Throw in the heavier construction and decks and I do think the commercial grades are worth the extra money IF you have the extra money to spend. That being said I would take the Cub Cadet over any typical lawn tractor because any zero turn will cut down on the mowing time.
