Could be that the processor has worked it way out of the slot. I had that happen on one where the older style AMD above board processor was not locked in properly. It could be some of the capacitors have started to short internally and are overheating and causing the problem over time of use. Look for bulging end caps on the end mounted motherboard electrolytics. You might even see some oozing material. I have seen theses capacitors go bad inside the power supply also. Open the power supply and look for darkened spots on the PC board indicating that the attached components are over heating. A supplier made a bunch of electrolytics about 5-6 years ago with a new water based dielectric film and it caused corrosion which led to overheating and corrosion. Like others have said the fans must be working properly and should not be all covered with lint and dust. Every once in a while the software becomes corrupted and needs to be reinstalled on a completely reformatted drive. Save any important files that you have on the hard drive in the system before you start your diagnostics and repair.
