No alfalfa grown around here, but 100# alfalfa bales in the feed stores are $10+ a bale. Small "prairie" grass, 40-50# bales, are bringing $3.00 to $3.50. I never paid more than $1.75 in years past. We're having 500 bales put in a barn on one place for $3.50, and hauling 400 bales ourselves to another place for $3.25. Ouch. Mama's little horse hobby has become a monster.
