Don't see why it wouldn't. I hate to say it, but according to your pictures, your wheat isn't big enough to give it many problems. Now, if you have a cross wind it might blow straw over to land on the support pieces and cause some to pile up, but it's certainly worth trying. BTW, you didn't send us any of that rain earlier, so keep the heat too, please.
